Aggies Picked to Finish Fifth

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference released its preseason all-conference team and volleyball predictions.  The North Carolina A&T volleyball team, who has not qualified for the MEAC tournament since 2007, was predicted to finish fifth in the MEAC Southern Division.

Despite libero Ashley Johnson (5-6, SO, Ewa Beach, Hawaii) being named first-team All-MEAC in 2012, the Aggies did not have anyone selected to the conference’s preseason team.  The Aggies are coming off of a 3-29 season, where they finished 3-7 in the conference.  It was their sixth straight losing season, but they did end the 2012 season on a two-match winning streak, including a win over 2013 preseason Player of the Year Desire Waller and S.C. State Bulldogs.

Chronicling The Dominican Republic, Days 2,3 & 4

On any other day, Giovanney Valdez is enough to excite youth gathered at a local basketball court in Santo Domingo. Valdez is a six-time member of the Dominican Republic national basketball team and in some circles in Santo Domingo, he is known as the Dominican Republic’s version of Michael Jordan.
